Author Tom Ulfert, motivated advocate, inspiring and dedicated

Author Tom Ulfert, Adversity Builds Character Review

Tom's Ulfert's book Adversity Builds Character is a very insightful searing story of a young man's life journey. He was born into a mixed lot of life, and the events lead him on an adventurous destiny, with many trials. The author has a unique and upbeat style of writing to take a tragedy and described it as fate throws one curveballs and it depends on how the catcher catches the ball, it will be a win or lose at the end of the game. Life is a game, a challenge and sometimes one is given more than is possible to carry and this is what occurs in this young man's journey.

He speaks of his life, as a child to adulthood, his education, his misshapen, his trails of meeting abandonment and death at an early age. How his mentors, his adopted parents gave him the strength and the fortified foundation to survive the wicked storms that passed into his life and out again. He could've let the flashing rain and thunder strike his core and be angry, give up, and throw everything away. Instead he decided to channel his frustration and lost beliefs into positive directions, was able to challenge Adversity, Builds Character, and transformed his life from the dark abyss he fell into. In an ever changing and a gifted existence, he learned about forgiveness on his travels of spiritual growth.

The author speaks with candor and humor to the reader as a mentor and teacher about loss, rejection, abandonment, addiction and other issues that others would be afraid to bring to the public eye. His life experiences, education and expertise place him in the position to be able to do so, with a flair that is humanistic and real. His story touched this reader so close to the core that I desired to dedicate a poem about Adversity Builds Character. He also speaks of a vague medical condition that is still in the dark as of today and how it affected his mother and then him. This is an inspirational story as it explores taboos, addictions and how one came back from the point of no return. As a reader I have read many human stories but this was written as the reader was the character and experienced the author's descriptive walk of life and its surprises, good and bad.

Ufert lived and survived through them, as a champion when others would have given up. His frame of mind, his willpower and his love of God and life helped him find the road back to recovery and once again back to home, with forgiveness in his heart. “Life is Accept it or Change it" is the last chapter of this emotional and surreal yet non-fictional story, which is a tool for all people, in many different situations who are about to give up.
